Jitterbug Perfume is an excellent book for taking places. I hope you also got a chance to read it. I still can't eat pickled beets, but at least I have developed a bit of a taste for borscht.

What an incredible hiker you have become! What where you standing on for that pic at the top of Wayna P with Ma Pi laid out below you. The scale compared the bus switchback is incredible. Way to go!!!!!

Interestingly enough, I appreciate Machu Picchu more now that I've heard your experiences of it. I did love it at the time, but I s'pose it had partially faded. I was fairly burnt out by the time we got to it (which is lame, as I DID only spend a few weeks down there).

We did the sun trail, which was lovely, and a LOT less strenuous - we were the lazy ones takin the bus :) but it was hilarious the number of people who'd take a break from the climb to have a cigarette. Nothin helps you catch your breath like a smoke. Ahh Australians.

The pics from Waynu are gorgeous. I'm so glad you did it.
